Those that want the extra traction of all-wheel drive will have to go for the slightly pricier Trailblazer. Unlike the current Trax but like most of the entry level crossover competition, power is delivered only through the front wheels with no all-wheel drive version available this year. While that’s slightly less on paper than the outgoing 1.4-liter four-cylinder, the triple is a torquey and responsive powerplant in the Trailblazer that should do quite well in the Trax. Under the hood, the new Trax uses the same 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine found in the Trailblazer with 137-horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. The Chevrolet Trax and the Honda HR-V are part of a small SUV explosion in recent years, and both are spacious and well-suited to city and suburban use by couples or young families. When it comes to performance, the 2016 Chevrolet Trax and the 2016 Honda HR-V offer available all-wheel drive. In the end, the Chevy Trax has an advantage over the Honda HR-V in performance, comfort. The roofline has been dropped by 4-inches so the seating position is likely to be less upright than before. The Trax and HR-V are similarly priced, with a base 6-speed manual, front-wheel-drive model around 20,000. Chevrolet promises 3-inches of the wheelbase will be felt in extra rear legroom.

With an overall length that has been extended by 11-inches including 6-inches more wheelbase along with 2-inches of extra width, the new Trax should be significantly roomier and have more cargo space. Since the Trax LS and the HR-V LX share an almost identical MSRP (in fact, the HR-V is 20 more), it seems odd that Honda doesn't offer much in the way of infotainment technology.
